Wendy's Wonderful Kids
Half Marathon at Harveys Lake

Course Details and Options
All races start and finish on Lake Shore Drive in front of Grotto’s Pizza. There are no roads or intersections to cross along the 8.2 miles of lake shore running. However, roads are open during the event and athletes must stay alert. Lin-Mark will supply Chrono electronic chip timing to insure fast and accurate results.

Runners will start after the Half Marathon and Lake Run. They will follow the same course as the other runners. They will proceed towards and past Outlet Road and then turn around at 1.55 miles, Runners return to the Finish Line from the opposite direction. There is one aid station at the turn-around.

Lake Run

Lake Runners start in front of Grottos Pizza simultaneously with the Half Marathon runners. The course is one simple 8.2 mile clockwise loop around the lake. Runners finish where they started in front of Grotto’s Pizze.

Half Marathon

Half Marathon runners start in front of Grottos Pizza simultaneously with the Lake Runners. The course completes the 8.2 mile loop around the lake, passes the start/finish area and then turns left up a steep hill and to a turn-around point on Troxel Switch Road. The last two miles are all downhill!

Post Race Party

Grottos Pizza will be hosting a post-race party outside on the deck from 11:00am – 1:00pm! Live music, refreshments and lots of Grotto’s Pizza will be available. Awards for all races begin at 11:00am. Please use the special voucher form when you pay for your food and Grottos will donate 20% of your food charges to Wilkes Barre Racings Foster Care Program! How you can help foster kids and orphans in NEPA

Everything we do at Wilkes Barre Racing has one purpose: get forever homes for children abandoned, abused or left homeless on our community. As you experience the joy and accomplishment of race day, we ask you to stop at one the local foster care, adoption or child advocacy booths near the registration and post race activity area.

  • See the profiles of local kids ready to be adopted (and it won’t cost you a penny)
  • Learn about how to become a foster parent
  • Discover how to become a court appointed advocate for children from broken homes
  • Learn more about the issues affecting our children and how you can help

We know foster care, adoption and advocacy isn’t for everyone. But the more you know the more you can help reach out to others and help spread the word.

Help WB Racing programs for orphans and foster kids – EAT A PIZZA!

Every year WBR conducts countless activities outside the athletic arena that support and encourage foster care and adoption in NEPA. These activities include

  • Sponsorship of biannual adoption matching events linking prospective parents to available kids
  • Sponsorship of the Family of the Year award to the best adoptive/foster families in NEPA
  • Sponsorship of the “Voices of Adoption” radio campaign
  • Sponsorship of the “Child of the Week” newspaper feature
  • Distribution of hundreds of circus, hockey and baseball tickets to foster children
  • Sponsorship of the “Kids Race Free” program that allows any foster child in Pennsylvania to enter and athletic event free

You can help support our work for foster kids in a most delicious way - eat at Grotto’s after the race! Just use the “Grotto’s Food Voucher” at checkout and Grotto’s will donate 20% of your food (non-alcohol) bill to Wilkes Barre Racing.
