Conservancy trail

The Earth Conservancy races are unique in the eastern US. They take place along cliffs, mountains and vast stretches of unreclaimed mineland overlooking the Susquehanna River near the scenic town of Mocanaqua.. Portions of the courses are barren, but most of the trails twist through thousands of acres of wilderness relatively untouched since the mining industry left the area over 70 years ago. There is over 800' of vertical gain in the first 1.5 miles that end with a stunning panorama of the Susquehanna River and the small town of Shickshinny far below.

Runners can choose a 7-mile or half-marathon option. The 7-mile course is on the Blue Loop trail. The half marathon course is a combination of Blue, Green and Brown trails. Both courses are well marked on race day and you should be prepared for single track trails, dirt roads and fire roads.

There is one fully stocked aid station that half marathon runners pass twice. Pizza party at the finish for everyone! Series prizes awarded at the finish.

The site is 20 minutes from I-81 via Route 29 and Route 11. Amenities include bathrooms, fresh water, and picnicking. Parking is plentiful and small restaurants and concessions are located in Mocanaqua, Shickshinny and neighboring towns.
